Disclaimer: Obviously I am not an actual angel. However, I feel like God speaks to my heart and I would love to share it with you. Please enjoy.
For years I have notice how
Satan takes good things given to us by God and copies and distorts them. He does
this to try to benefit himself, and as a slap in the face of God.
Satan has inspired people to
write books that are not from God but say they will show you the way to God,
heaven, nirvana, etc. Actually, these books will lead you away from God but
make you feel good about it because they teach all kinds of good ways to live
and treat each other. While following the advice of Confucius or Buddha might
make you a nicer person, it will cause you to think you can reach eternal peace
by your own goodness. This will lead you straight to hell. The Bible, God’s
book, teaches us that we cannot do anything to save ourselves. God provided us
with salvation that is a result of Jesus’ death on the cross and His
resurrection. Only His perfect blood can wash away our sin. Accepting His
salvation and serving Him is the only way to heaven.
Many people say all roads
lead to God, meaning you can live any way you want and you will still end up
with God. Well, that is true. No matter what path you take it will lead you to
God. However, only one path will lead you to salvation. No matter what path you
choose you will meet God someday. The question is, when you meet Him will He say,
“well done thou good and faithful servant”, or will He say “depart from Me. I
never knew you”?
That is one of the more
obvious ways Satan fools people into disobeying God. What I really want to talk
about today is something that most people don’t think about. It is less
obvious.
One of the most popular
verbal expressions is to say “oh my god”. Most people today are always saying “OMG”
this and “OMG” that. They don’t even think about it.
However, you never hear
anyone say “oh my Buddha”, “oh my Krishna”, or “oh my Confucius”. Why do you
think that is? Well, Satan is always trying to trick people into disobeying God.
To use one of these three expressions, although being pretty ridiculous, it
would not be a sin. Satan knows that so he has never put any effort into causing
that to become a popular expression. What would be the use? It would not be
causing people to sin constantly without even thinking about it.
I believe saying “OMG” is
actually a sin. “Why?” you might ask. If you are familiar with the 10
commandments you will know that one commandment is “thou shalt not use the Lord
thy God’s name in vain.” Do you know what that really means?
Most people think using the
Lord’s name in vain refers to using His name to damn someone. Although that is
one way to use His name in vain, it is not the only way.
I looked up the word “vain”
in the thesaurus. It doesn’t say anything about damning someone. According to
the thesaurus, words that have the same meaning are: ineffective, unproductive,
futile, useless, worthless, hollow, empty, and pointless, to name a few.
That tells me that when God
says not to use His name in vain, what He is telling us is that His name is far
too holy to use it lightly. The only time we should use His name is when we are
talking to Him, or talking about Him. It is absolutely not to be used as an
expression. Every time we do, we are breaking one of God’s commandments.
When I stand before God I don’t
want Him asking me why I constantly used His name in vain when He has forbidden
us to do so.
If this is one of your
expressions, I hope you will hear it differently from now on, and decide to no
longer use His name in vain.
Think about it.

Think you for this post. I especially agree with the omg statements. I cringe when I hear it small children are even saying it without a second thought. Are they even being taught?
