Rubble

Olivia, a beautiful angel in heaven, had a question for Father God, as she often did.

“Father God,” she asked, “Why are so many people so hesitant to give their life to you and become a Christian? It is such a wonderful thing to do.”

“Yes,” replied Father God. “It does seem like everyone would want to do it, but sadly, most don’t. So many of them are afraid to give their life to Me because they believe they will lose all control. They are afraid I will take their life away from them and replace it with a life they will hate, and the life they knew will disappear. I never take control away from them. All I do is show them what they should do and help them do it. Whether or not they do what I show them is up to them. Many of them are afraid I will send them to a foreign country as a missionary. The truth is, I don’t send most people to live somewhere else, but even when I do, it is still their choice. Following Me is always by choice.”

“When people follow the guidance I give them, their life always goes better.”

“In My book, The Bible, one book is called Nehemiah. Here I tell the story of when the city of Jerusalem had been attacked. The gates and walls had been torn down and destroyed and the city was unprotected. Nehemiah, with the blessing of the king, went to Jerusalem to rebuild the gates and walls. The stone walls were nothing but piles of rubble at this point. He did not haul away all the rocks that had been the walls and bring in all new stones and build whole new walls. Rather, he took the rubble, the rocks that had been the walls and simply cleaned the rocks and rebuilt the walls strong again.

“That is what I do when someone turns their life over to Me. I take the rubble their life has become, I clean it and put it back together again, strong. The part of their life that is of value is made clean and strong. Only the part of their life that is of no value, such as addiction, is thrown away. Some parts of their life are cleaned immediately, but some parts have to be cleaned bit by bit. If they stay with Me and allow Me to continue rebuilding, they will never be sorry. I can take a life that is nothing but rubble and make it good. Even lives that look good on the outside, if they are not given to Me, when they come to the end of their life they will find that all the “beautiful” things were actually rubble just disguised to look beautiful. The end to a life without God is total destruction.”

“Oh, Father God,” Olivia said, “I wish everyone would give their life to you.”

“I do too, Olivia.”

Only one life, ‘twill soon be past.

Only what’s done for Christ will last.
